Welcome to Miles By Foot, a walking, travel, urban exploration, and aviation channel, sharing content through photos, blogs, and videos.
I'm Matt, and I started Miles By Foot in August 2014 as a blog designed to bring travelers and explorers together to share experiences with the world around us. We traverse the world in many ways, but there's something special to doing it on foot. You can see, hear, smell, and experience more on a walk than you can when you drive or explore a new or familiar place from behind glass. My blog caters to this need, and I'd love to share travel and aviation videos with you on this channel. Please join me in experiencing the joy of flight, travel, and the experience of something new!

STUPID MASKS!!!
Awesome and very big airport
Will be flying into Hobby for the time next month. Will have a 3 hr layover. Is there any restaurant recommendations?
On both of my visits, I didn't have time to eat anywhere. There are several places in the center of the concourse that will be easily accessible, no matter what you're hungry for.
I had layovers there to and from Barbados 🇧🇧love it
Thank you so much for your great info
Glad I could help!
Still remember the days Eastern and Delta flew the nonstop traffic between SDF and ATL with DC-9-30, MD-80 and 727-200.
I'm not sure if they've retied the MD-88s on that route, but at least up until a few years ago you could catch it on occasion!
I’ve been flying out and connecting through ATL for years. I still would not book a flight with less than an hour to connect and more time now that age is slowing me down a bit. Atlanta is still one of the simplest airports to navigate.
An excellent assessment; I love ATL, and while they help in some places and it is simple, you'll have to walk a considerable distance to get to a connection, with tight ones becoming more difficult. I'd say ATL's made it as simple as possible, but it's still not "easy," just because of the airport's size and traffic volume!
Is there a USO?
There are two; one is pre-security in Terminal 2, upstairs when you walk in, over the check-in desks. The other, which I feature in the video at 7:15, is airside in Terminal 3, in the Rotunda. Go upstairs in the Rotunda, and it's at the top of the stairs.
An interstate flight, huh? Hey, at least you can skip the thing that is I-95.
Something we should all strive to skip when we can!
Thanks for the helpful tour! You couldn’t have posted this at a better time, I’ll be there on Friday!
Wonderful, enjoy your trip!
you can also fly none stop using southwest (which I will be flying)
Sure can! Southwest has a large presence here.
Don't forget to do a tour of Terminal 2 At Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport.
Not forgotten; it's a priority the next time I'm up that direction!
Can you do bwi airport pls and also do the landside terminal at iad and at bwi
I've done BWI, which you can find here ua-cam.com/video/_UTQhCszbYY/v-deo.html IAD is next!
Thank you so much! I have a lot of anxiety when going to new airports and flying to the US but this has made me feel less anxious seeing how the airport looks, etc. Can't wait to visit Raleigh now! :)
Awesome, have a great visit!
There's a saying in the DMV 1: BWI 2: DCA 3: Drive 4: Train 5: Walk 7: Cancel the Trip . . . . . 98: ??? 99: IAD
WRONG. Dulles clears all, greatest airport in the world. All others are UGLY and BAD
I guess it's all a matter of perspective!
Can you do ord-Mex
I've been thinking a lot about how I want to do Mexico City, as it's one of the highest on my list to visit. When I do, it'll likely be from O'Hare!
Do CVG to LAX on Delta
One day!
Staying in the same state and heading for another hub of United? Washington-Dulles is one heck of a UA hub, but recently, about 1½ years ago, Washington Metro's Silver Line now links the airport.
One of my shortest flights ever; Dulles is next!
3 minutes ago? nice and perfect timing on an emirates flight from mia to bog
Great timing!
Thank you so much ive never been on a plane before but this helped me with so much planning 🫶🥹
Wonderful!
I went to the CVG plane spotting area last Saturday
It's a great spot!
@@MilesByFoot I know right
Where is the designated area for Uber/Lyft pick-up at this airport? Nice video by the way!
Uber picks up at Zone 1 (outside the baggage claim at Terminal 1, the smaller terminal), or outside the baggage claim in Terminal 2 at Zone 17. Many rideshare apps, including Lyft, have the ability to tell you where to be picked up when you order your ride.
@@MilesByFoot Yep you're correct. Booked a ride on Lyft, and got picked up from zone 17 (or 8. It's the same thing) outside Terminal 2. The zone had purple colored signs that had the number 8 written on them.
Traveling for the first time! You don’t need to take the SkyLink from Terminal A to Terminal B?
You don't have to take the SkyLink; A and B are connected through an airside walkway that crosses the central road at DFW. However, it's almost certainly faster, especially if you're in low-numbered A gates (A20 or lower) or high-numbered B gates (B20 or higher). The higher your B gate, the farther you'll have to walk to get to A, and the lower your A gate, the farther you'll have to walk to get to B.
I remember that when I was there at Orlando, Florida Airport My parents surprised me with going to Disney world Great memories 😢
❤️
Ahh beautiful Midway Airport lol. Crazy that this was the world's busiest airport for like 30 years
It still feels that way some mornings!
Lol, smallest airport I have ever flown from
Part of its charm!
nice, about two weeks im flying delta out of cvg to atlanta then to sjc. I normally fly frontier so I’m super excited
Have a great trip!
I just looked this up so I could say”I’ve been there, I stood right there a couple years ago!”
I do the same thing! :)
Very nice airport, I flew frontier a320 out of here on way to Orlando, great experience even in spring break
Very nice!
Wow!
Now you got LAF as they restarted daily passenger service to ORD :)
How exciting! It comes and goes, but glad it's back!
I’m flying here next week and I have been so nervous about making my connecting flight. I am going to be using American Eagle and my time to get to my next flight is 46 minutes. Is this too slim of a time? It’s my first solo flight with a connection 😭
My 1st solo in August w/layover in CLT. Hate crowds & not knowing we're I'm going. 🤯
That IS slim, but if they're booked as the same ticket, which they usually are, then American is betting on you making it. If your inbound flight is delayed to the point where it's impossible to catch your connection (that is, it takes off before you land), American is required to rebook you on the next available flight and/or make accommodations for you to get you where you're going!
@@MilesByFoot That makes me feel so much better! I have been very anxious about this flight for months. Thank you!
Is there a way to avoid having to use the escalators? I have an extreme phobia of escalators.
Everywhere there's an escalator there's an elevator option!
Hey. Can we carry baggage in bus 40 from hobby
These are city buses, so they'll have much less room for your luggage than, say, a rental car shuttle. I wouldn't bring more than one checked bag and one carry-on piece per person if you're going to use the bus.
could u do Ottawa international please?
YOW, and the other major Canadian airports, are high on the list!
Really hope to see you go to LaGuardia eventually! Subscribed!
I'm very excited to see the new terminal there!
Midway is a ridiculously SMALL airport . It's very unfair that Southwest DOMINATES over 90 % of the terminal gates. It's MONOPLOLY. They should surrender some gates to allow for more airlines. More choices make for HAPPIER customers.
MDW serves an important purpose, but there's no question that both of Chicago's airports are busy and overcrowded, especially during peak travel seasons. The way I see it, at least, both do the best they can with what they have!
Thanks for the video! Southwest changed my flight plan. Now, i gotta go through Hobby. This video made my anxiety calm the f down even though i only have a 30 min break to catch the flight from like gate 40 to gate 5. Seems like id have enough time now. Thank you!
You will! :)
Being from moco we’re equidistant between bwi amd Dulles and 9/10 times we’re going to bwi. When we’re flying out I find Wes mores announcement to be the most annoying thing because I’ve heard it dozens of time but when I land at MCO or FLL I miss his voice and those sweet restrooms that come with it so much.
BWI's great if you're travelling domestically!
Can you pls do a full airport tour and asmr walking tour of the Fort Lauderdale airport (fll)
FLL is one of my most requested airports, so thanks for chiming in! The more people tell me, the more likely I am to go, and FLL is a high priority!
Pls make sure to film both landside and airside terminals
I will be connecting in ATL this month. Was a bit nervous about it and hope I don't get lost. I went there once before in 2006, 18 years ago. 😳
Don't worry, ATL is pretty easy to navigate, and frankly, it doesn't look too different than it did in 2006. Even if you didn't find your way then, you'll find your way now!
@@MilesByFoot thank you!
IAH should have more flights to parts of Europe and Africa
I'm sure more will come as international travel grows again; for now, Dulles outside Washington offers a lot of European and African destinations on United and international carriers.
I love this airport, probably the best engineered airport of all. The way the separate each terminal but yet have each one connected still by the Skylink. It's just ingenious. This airport even though it's got a competitor in Dallas. This airport by far makes the process of getting through checking, TSA, and really smooth. Foot traffic in each terminal is little to none depending on which day. But even on busier days foot traffic still flows immaculately. Now once you get to the gates it can be bad traffic wise But overall, It's crazy how well things flow here at DFW International.
And they have lots of incredible lounges to visit if you have Priority pass and especially the best one, the Capital one Lounge my parents visited and enjoyed Great airport to connect or visit on
It's an excellent design, and it's even made with expansion in mind! @robertolebron2296
DFW is full of well-positioned lounges for all types of travelers!
I love your videos :) I have some ideas for where you should travel to sometime soon. Washington-Dulles Int'l Will Rogers World Airport Richmond Int'l Airport Salt Lake City Int'l Saint Louis Lambert Int'l Harrisburg Int'l Yeah.
One of those is coming soon; bet you can guess which one!
good vid, reminds me that in a few weeks, i get to fly again
Awesome!
Might as well take the NE Regional to DC, NY, and Boston
Such a great video. The classic look reminds me of 70’s architecture, specifically IAH older terminals like Terminal B where the awkward shapes and building structure. Awesome as always
I thought the same thing; reminds me a lot of B at IAH!
How do you get from gate 1 to gate 51 quickly?
Those are on opposite ends of the airport, but thankfully, that's still not far, and there are several moving sidewalks along the way: about 1/3 of a mile (500 meters), a 10 minute walk at the slowest. Take a right when you exit Gate 1, walk down the big open hall, then turn right and use the moving sidewalk past the space exhibits. Turn right at the end of the hall and head all the way to end for Gate 51.
@@MilesByFoot thank you so much!
Fun fact home alone was filmed at that airport
Sure was!
Do you have Global Entry?
Haven't flown internationally for a while, but if that goes up, you bet I will!
